Transform your home with the right light

We at Moretti Interior Design know very well that lighting is an important feature in the creation of atmosphere and largely relates to the placement of furniture. The best designs come out from the right balance of good interior and good lighting. For this reason we have included in our Company the lighting design consultancy service, to be sure that from the very beginning of the design process, the lighting designer and the interior designer work as a team so that the lighting will match with the material, fabrics and textures chosen and vice-versa. Having the interior and lighting in-house will also help the Client to save time and money in the project.

Client can either choose to have the interior design and lighting design in one package or just the lighting design service.

Lighting Design Process

We approach every project in the same creative and collaborative working manner of the interior design process. We develop the lighting design examining and testing for the correct lighting solution, product, effect and detail. Throughout the design process, we continually look to ensure that our schemes are easily installed, maintained and affordable.

We communicate closely with our clients and with all the other members of the project to ensure that the right design is achieved. We deliver all the technical information necessary to M&E teams, ensuring that the scheme’s electrical and operational requirements are cohesively designed.

The lighting design process we adopt is typically based on the recommended architectural RIBA design stages:

Stage 1 – Client Brief

The first stage in our lighting design process is to meet the client and discuss the vision for the project and the best lighting solutions considering the budget.

Client Brief

Here we will go throught:

  • Overall concept and use of space
  • Details of furniture layout
  • Project timescales
  • Client’s budget
  • Option for us to suggest suitable decorative fittings

Stage 2 – Concept Design

Where we present moodboards and conceptual lighting ideas to explain to our clients our lighting design vision.

During this stage we will provide an initial CAD concept design to show type and approximate location of each fitting.

  • Full lighting design for the property
  • Drawing to show type and approximate location of each individual fitting
  • Initial lighting schedule
  • Detailed room by room list of specified fittings and quantities
  • Details of circuits, wattages, cut out sizes and specific lamp types
  • Data sheets for all fittings

Stage 4 – Technical design

After the sign off, we start to develop the final construction package that will include all the technical details from which the project can be built.

Technical design

We present a detailed package with fully annotated drawings, details and technical luminaire specification for tenders:

  • Full lighting design for the property
  • Drawing to show fitting type, guide dimensions and final circuit numbers for each fitting
  • Full lighting schedule
  • Detailed room by room list of specified fittings, fitting quantities and circuit quantities
  • Details of circuits, wattages, cut out sizes and fitting finishes
  • Data sheets for all fittings

Stage 5 – Scene Settings

We follow the project until the final hand-over to be sure that all the light fittings have the correct setting.

Scene Settings

We work with the construction team to ensure the design is implemented as designed and that the lighting is commissioned and light levels set to achieve the best possible result. We reccomend at least one commissioning visit to make sure that all the lighting has been installed properly.
